We are the only holiday co-operative offering guided walks in the UK led by a remarkable army of over 600 passionate volunteer HF Leaders. Their knowledge, warmth, and enthusiasm is what sets HF Holidays apart from the rest.
We thank all HF Leaders, Field Advisors, and our volunteer Board of Directors, who generously give their time to make our co-operative what it is today.
We are actively recruiting new volunteer HF Leaders in all areas, especially those confident walking in mountain and moorland areas.
HF Leaders
Our UK guided walking holidays are led by enthusiastic volunteer HF Leaders, sharing their passion for the outdoors and love of helping others discover coast and countryside landscapes on foot.
Each HF Leader undertakes rigorous training and assessment, including first aid certification, so you can feel confident and safe, whether on a gentle countryside stroll or a challenging trail. They are also chosen for their extensive knowledge, and natural ability to help guests form lasting friendships and unforgettable memories.
HF Field Advisors
Our Field Advisors in the UK carefully research, plan, and devise the routes we offer, personally walking each one to ensure every step is safe, well-maintained, and rewarding. They assess path conditions, check signage, and identify the best viewpoints, picnic spots, and points of interest. Their meticulous work ensures our guests enjoy walks that are packed with scenic beauty, local stories, and all the small details that turn a good walk into a truly memorable one.
Overseas Leaders & Tour Managers

rest assured that everything is taken care of. We partner with expert local walk leaders who bring overseas destinations to life with their knowledge of local sights and culture, and tour managers ensure everything runs seamlessly, so you can relax and make the most of your holiday.
Special Interest Leaders
At our UK country houses, our special interest breaks are led by qualified and experienced leaders in a range of subjects, from art and bridge to yoga, music, and more. These leaders will help you pursue new hobbies or deepen your passion for existing ones in the most beautiful settings.

Meet some of our HF Leaders
HF Leader
When you retire, I think it’s so important to stay both physically and mentally active. Retiring from teaching at 60 gave me time for my two passions: women’s masters hockey and leading
walks.
My love of walking began in my 30s on Haystacks in the Lake District - a sunny day, a steady climb, then that first “wow” as Buttermere appeared
below. One walk led to many: more summits, new skills, and eventually becoming an HF Leader with moorland and mountain qualifications.
Exploring new places has boosted my wellbeing hugely. I’ve led walks in Malham and managed holidays from Slovenia to Patagonia, but the
real reward is seeing guests grow in confidence. When a few words help someone reach a summit they never thought possible, it’s so worthwhile.
Whether it’s a mountain or a modest hill, the feeling is the same: being out in nature is good for the soul and sharing that experience is even better!
Local Leader Overseas
Awarded “World’s Best Guide” by Wanderlust, Cusco-born Efrain Valles truly embodies the spirit of Peru.
With a deep love for his country and unrivalled expertise, he’s been making memorable moments for guests for almost 25 years and counts the likes of Princess Beatrice and Ed Sheeran among his A-list clientele.
Whether he’s navigating llama traffic jams or leading treks through incredible cloud forests, there’s no one better to guide our On the Trail of the Incas tour.
Special Interest Leader
Su knows a thing or two about singing. In 2006 she founded the Singing Our Socks Off (SOSO) community choir.
Since then, her SOSO’s group choirs have sprung up all over Merseyside, putting in performances across the region – including a memorable moment with opera star Russell Watson in 2016.
As an expert tutor on our HF Choir special interest breaks, Su is passionate about helping people build confidence and connect with others through a shared love of singing.
