HF Holidays proudly announces certification as a B Corporation

Following a rigorous accreditation process, we are delighted that HF Holidays is now a certified B Corporation (or B Corp). This means we’re a business that has reached the highest standards of social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose. Simply put, we’re doing good for the planet and its people – both of which have always been at the heart of everything we’ve done since 1913.

80 qualifies as B Corp Certification

"We are incredibly happy that HF Holidays is now B Corp Certified and immensely proud of our score. This reflects our long-term commitment to ensuring our entire business operates ethically and meets high social and environmental standards.”

“Run as a co-operative, we have 48,000 members who are part owners of a business powered by its people and values. Walking holidays are by nature, a low carbon choice and responsible travel has always been a part of our DNA. But it has been a huge effort from everyone across the business to ensure our holidays positively impact communities, people, and the planet in the places we travel to. As a certified B Corp in the travel and hospitality industry, we’re now a business who is helping lead a global movement for an inclusive, equitable, and regenerative economy."

What does being a B Corp mean?

The term B Corp stands for ‘B Corporation’ and is run by a global not-for-profit organisation, B Lab.  Their assessment helps companies to ensure their operations benefit people, communities, and the planet rather than existing solely for shareholder profit.

B Corp Certification assesses the entirety of a business’ operations and currently covers five main impact areas: Governance, Workers, Community, Environment, and Customers. The certification process is rigorous, with companies required to reach a score of 80 points in the B Impact Assessment while providing evidence of responsible practices relating to energy supplies, waste and water use, worker compensation, diversity, and corporate transparency. A business must also legally embed their commitment to purpose as well as profit in their company articles.

What's next in our drive for change?

We realise the importance of making more mindful choices when travelling and want you to know that we are committed to sustainability.

We see it as our responsibility to minimise our carbon emissions further and have a strategy to reduce the carbon intensity of our products by 5% each year. Our ambition is to be net-zero by 2040, earlier if we can.

Will HF Holidays be a B Corp forever?

Gaining a B Corp Certification is not a one-time thing. We will have to re-certify and improve our score every three years.

How will this benefit our members and guests?

HF Holidays has always put people and the planet at the heart of everything we do. We’re committed to making all aspects of our business a force for good; from ensuring our holidays have minimal carbon footprints to using renewable energy at our UK country houses. We continually strive to always do things better and have lots of exciting things in the pipeline that we can’t wait to share with you.
