Our climate goals

Benefiting both people and the planet

We see it as our responsibility to minimise our emissions, not just for this year but every year to come. Our work with sustainability experts, ecollective, has enabled us to measure our carbon footprint and create a strategy to reduce the carbon intensity of our product by 5% each year. Our ambition is to be net zero by 2040 – earlier if we can.

We’re now a Certified B Corporation

Following a rigorous accreditation process, we are delighted to now be a certified B Corporation (or B Corp). This means we’re a business that has reached the highest standards of social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose. Simply put, we’re doing good for the planet and its people – both of which have always been at the heart of everything we’ve done since 1913.

What's next in our drive for change?

Reach net-zero by 2040

Continuing to reduce the carbon intensity of our product by 5% each year in order to become net zero by 2040, or earlier if possible.

Improve Waste & Recycling

We will reduce waste and increasing recycling across our offices and estate by 50% before 2025.

Work with Net-zero suppliers

Working with other suppliers across our country houses that have a commitment to net zero.

Measure our CO2e

We will continue to measure our holidays for carbon emissions (CO2e per person) to help you choose low-carbon options.

Retain our B-Corp Status

We strive to improve our social and environmental performance by being re-certified every three years

Acquire more ethy accreditations

The four accreditations - Community Champion, Co-operative, EV charge points, and Powered by renewables - will now feature as ecolabels on our website and communication channels, meaning our members and guests are clearly and credibly informed about our sustainability and climate goals.

Staying on the right path

To make true progress towards a more sustainable future, we will endeavour to be transparent about our commitments and policies. We have set our standards high and remain passionate about doing things the right way. We will be transparent with you about our journey.  We don't claim to be perfect, but the environment needs urgent action, so we see these as small steps amongst many we are going to take in the future.
