Despite all that, Cuban life carries on to a soundtrack of swaying palms, traditional salsa music, and the satisfying clink of a glass of rum or two. From the classic American cars, colourful architecture, and crumbling colonial grandeur of UNESCO-listed Havana to the tobacco fields and untouched tropical landscapes of Viñales, this is a land of dizzying contradictions – all of which make it so appealing.
